Well… I was trolling around the internet when I came to the conclusion that the supposedly liberal media was routinely, seemingly willfully, giving John McCain a pass on his flip flops while eagerly attacking Barack Obama for his (even though a lot of them aren’t actually flip flops). So, given their tacit support of a Republican conservative and their attacks on a moderate-to-liberal Democrat, can the media still be called “liberal”? Is the media just paranoid of being called “liberal”?
I say “yes” to the former and “yes” to the latter. It looks like almost two decades of FOX News and Talk Radio slandering journalists for covering negative stories on Republicans and Conservatives finally got to the corporate big-wigs that generally control the media, and, afraid of angering loud, conservative idiots, the media has, instead taken to being biased towards the other side.
For example, with all of the talk about Obama’s (not really a) flip flop on campaign finance and his coming to reality (a flip flop for him) on Iraq and his general evisceration for it among the talking heads, you can only find talk of McCain’s numerous flip flops on the blogosphere.
Why a “liberal media” wouldn’t be all over this is beyond me. No, the rest of the media seems to be taking the hint from FOX News and running non-stories like Jeremiah Wright and a tape of Michelle Obama saying “whitey” that probably doesn’t exist. Well… this is where the blogs do their best, picking up where the media leaves off. I just hope that the majority of the electorate gets their information from the internet…
